Overview

Thai Garden Village Seafood & BBQ, tucked away at 6 1/2 Mile, Jalan Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, offers diners a genuine taste of Thailand amid a charming village-inspired setting. This restaurant specializes in authentic Thai cuisine with a keen focus on fresh seafood and traditional barbecue, making it a notable destination for both family gatherings and group dinners.

One of the defining features of Thai Garden Village is its spacious and thoughtfully designed interior, complete with private rooms and an inviting ambiance reminiscent of a Thai village. The presence of a clean fish pond alongside the dining area adds an interactive element, especially appealing to families with children who can enjoy exploring while waiting for their meal. The venue’s openness and kid-friendly environment extend to accommodating pets, underscoring its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The menu boasts standout dishes such as the aromatic Pandan Chicken, the vibrant Tom Yum Goong brimming with fresh seafood, and the indulgent yet balanced Mango Sticky Rice. House specialties like the Pataya Fish and the Thai Deep Fried Three Taste Garoupa Fish showcase the chef’s skill in marrying traditional flavors with fresh ingredients. Those seeking something smoky and rich can enjoy the Thai BBQ selection, including BBQ Pork and Thai BBQ Lamb, which offer robust, grilled flavors true to Southeast Asian culinary roots.

Guests often praise the freshness and flavor depth of the dishes, noting generous portions that offer excellent value. The Tom Yum Seafood Soup stands out for its spicy and tangy notes, a hallmark of Thai cuisine, while the Fried Kangkong with Chili Padi delivers a pleasing crunch with a bold, garlicky belacan kick. In some experiences, the dessert offerings like the Coconut Ice Cream have been well received, though opinions on the mango sticky rice are mixed, with some expecting more authenticity in texture and sweetness.

While the restaurant shines in food and atmosphere, some operational aspects warrant attention. Wait times can be long during peak hours, especially without reservations, and seating such as tables by the pond is limited to larger groups. A few visitors have noted minor cleanliness concerns in the washrooms and floor areas, alongside challenges with parking during inclement weather.

Overall, Thai Garden Village Seafood & BBQ serves as a vibrant, authentic Thai dining spot that balances quality and experience. It is ideally suited for those who appreciate the nuanced flavors of Thai seafood and barbecue, enjoy a lively yet family-friendly environment, and value convivial group dining. Advance booking is recommended to fully enjoy the charming setting without long waits.

The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, exceeding expectations in both quality and taste. Every dish was well-prepared, showcasing great attention to detail and fresh ingredients. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality far exceeded the cost. Definitely a place where you get incredible value without compromising on taste or service. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great food, friendly staff, and a price that doesn’t break the bank. I’ll definitely be back!

Food was good, we had a reunion dinner with friends. Parking was a little difficult since it was raining. The space was huge inside with private rooms. We ordered quite a few dishes and it was nice. However, the gelato/ice cream was good but NOT the mango sticky rice. That was disappointing.

We came without reservation, arrived at 7.48pm, went straight to the table beside the cashier to put our name and take a number. Theres free ice lemon tea for waiting customers. Not enough chairs for waiting customers. Got our table at 8.51pm. Tables by the pond are bigger, only meant for bigger group. Say goodbye to the nice video you saw on ig if you only have small group. i noticed there are a couple of empty big tables but they dont offer it to waiting customers. could be they are trying to fit exact pax to table size? Or reserved but i dont see reserved sign. Hence the longggg wait. Coconut (rm7). Pandan Lemongrass one jug (rm6); asked for less sweet, just right but taste more pandan, barely any lemongrass. Fried Kangkong (rm20); belacan is gooood, plenty of garlic. i would prefer garlic to be chopped into smaller pieces, some huge some small. Seafood Tom Yum Small (rm28); pretty good. Lemon Steam Sotong 300gram (rm42); squid is clean and fresh. cabbage could use longer cooking, taste raw. i mix the squid gravy and tomyum onto my rice. Yumssss. Toilet is yek and wet, had to pee with my eyes closed. Restaurant floor not exactly clean also. Apart from the long wait, food are pretty good. Best to make reservation.

My wife brought me here for Father’s Day — didn’t expect such an authentic Thai dining experience in this area! We didn’t have a reservation, so had to wait a bit. Service was slightly slow at first, but nothing too frustrating. Food was excellent: Siakap lime sauce: flavourful and perfectly cooked Tom Yum: spicy and full of seafood Seafood kerabu: generous portion Fish cake: mild taste, but went well with other dishes Loved the Thai village vibes, clean fish pond, kid-friendly setup, and even pet-friendly dining! Great place for gatherings — just be sure to book ahead.

Very nice looking restaurant with a Thai village vibe. Kids can also roam around to check out the fishes. Food wise, it’s good but not out of the world great. However, it’s a worthy place to dine in groups as they have plenty of dishes to try. Service is also attentive.

Absolutely loved this Thai restaurant! The food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful, and the overall atmosphere was so relaxing. The service was excellent—especially from a girl with glasses who was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!
